During the years of 2012 and 2013, I was fortunate enough to be based in Scotland. My task was to be the Mandarin assistant at George Watson's College for the duration of ten months. This was a result of  a program set up by  the Taiwanese and Untied Kingdom governments. the objective of this program is to assist me in my process to become a mandarin teacher. There are many benefits of this program such as experiencing a completely different culture and advertising Taiwan by being an international ambassador. I hope to learn from this experience and take in as much as I can whilst spending time here in Scotland. 

GWC有超過2000個學生，300位老師，是愛丁堡地區的大學校，也是一所私立學校。學生年齡層由S1到S6，約相當於台灣的國一到高三。學生於S1選擇中文為第二外語之後，在S4時會有學校的口語測試，在S5以後也可由學生自行決定是否參加IB中文的考試。

目前我的課程計劃從S1到S6都有，其內容如下：
S1--個別指導學生，準備銜接S2課程
S2--拆班上課，和中文教師一同搭配
S3--口說練習
S4--口說練習，並預備口語測試
S5--準備IB中文考試
S6--個別指導學生，準備銜接高級中文
中國文化社團--每週五午餐時間舉行

除了備課上課，尚需協助中文教師編輯教材、製作學習單、編寫考題等等，內容不一而足。
愛丁堡當地的課程制度與台灣大相逕庭，從9點上課到3點半離校，短短6個半小時的時間必須準備8節課，因此，只要有課餘，幾乎都得埋首於備課與教材、學習單的編寫。所幸學校資源豐富，學生配合度高，再加上中文教師Maggie總是適時給予建議與支援，即便終日忙碌，但我總是帶著滿滿的充實進入夢鄉。I always say, I am enjoying teaching!
